Evert Crols
Evert is an architect and co-founder of B-architecten, a multidisciplinary design studio active in architecture, urban planning, and scenography. The studio is known for its innovative and experimental approach, with projects such as the renovation of the Beursschouwburg in Brussels and De Grote Post in Ostend.
After studying architecture in Antwerp, Evert moved to Amsterdam in 1992, where he earned a Master in Architecture at the Berlage Institute. He stayed in the Netherlands for five years and worked there as a freelancer at various studios, including Neutelings Riedijk Architects.
In November 1997, together with Dirk Engelen and Sven Grooten — whom he had met during his studies in Antwerp and Amsterdam — he founded the design studio B-architecten. The studio grew into a multidisciplinary platform for architecture, urban planning, and scenography, linking architecture with disciplines such as art, graphic design, and multimedia. Characteristic of their work are the use of industrial materials, a pragmatic roughness, and great spatial flexibility.
Over the years, the studio expanded with B-bis (smaller projects and interior design), B-city (large-scale urban development), and B-juxta (renovation projects). Today the studio has offices in Antwerp, Brussels, and Ghent, among other places.
Among Evert's projects is the renovation of the Beursschouwburg in Brussels. Over the years, he made many trips, often in search of remarkable architecture and urban planning.
