DakarSN

Dakar is a mythical city. Its name conjures up countless images and resonates beyond its peninsula jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean and open to the world. The capital city of Senegal, and formerly the capital of French West Africa, it has been a major centre of the African continent for over a century and a half, a hub of contemporary artistic and intellectual creation. Visitors think they know it, but it is constantly reinventing itself, even more so today as it grows at an irresistible pace. Its most iconic sites, witnesses to historical events and avant-garde modernity, coexist on a daily basis with the precariousness and fragility of a population that is constantly pushing back the city’s boundaries.
