A bike tour through various Brussels neighbourhoods with an intensive architecture programme for KBKW (Royal Circle of Architects of West Flanders).

There is a lot to discover in Brussels in a single day, but for this occasion we will take the (electric) bike to see more of the capital. The programme focuses on contemporary architecture, showcasing the best Brussels has to offer. We have selected a number of exemplary projects that cover a wide range of pressing themes: sustainable and circular use of materials, renovation and expansion of existing heritage, city making, social integration and densification. The young generation of Brussels architects who have realised these projects are aware of the challenges and dare to tackle them head-on.

The bike tour is a 28 km route that starts at the Bruxelles-Midi station in Anderlecht and ends at the Royale Belge in Watermael-Bosvoorde. At Royale Belge, we are counting on good weather to enjoy the terrace of the Fox Foodmarket. On the way there, we will visit le Rideau de Bruxelles, a theatre by Ouest Architecture, and pass Flagey, Villa Empain, the Glaverbel building by Braem and the CBR building by Brodzki. Leaving the many offices behind us, we will visit the extension of the VUB/ULB campus in the former gendarmerie barracks Usquare Feder by BC architects, the renovated public square Parc des Brigittines by Générale and the Karper house by Hé Architecten. To celebrate the successful conclusion of our tour, we end with a drink at Recyclart, a multidisciplinary socio-cultural institute in Brussels.
